Posted 07/01/2008 01:05:50 PM | | To be part of this awe-inspiring expedition means you must be solely responsible for yourself and you must be at least 21 years, female, reasonably fit and in good health.
You also need the endurance to travel through all possible climatic zones on dirt roads and 4x4 tracks, sleep in tents, use questionable ablution facilities and not panic when a snake, spider or scorpion crosses your path.
Of course you need to have a driver's licence and need to be financially independent to sustain your life (rent, house bond etc.) while you are gone for +/- 8 months but you also need to understand that once part of this expedition, there is no turning back!
After you have made it into the circle of pre-selected participants, we will ask you to supply us with a copy of your passport, driver's licence and a health certificate from your doctor. (Download Participation Report)
This health certificate needs to clearly state that you are fit for travelling through Africa in expedition style. It also needs to list any illness you might have and all chronic medication you take.
You also will have to sign a indemnity form which states that you travel on your own free will, and at your own risk.
Once we have received these documents you will be invited to the final selection "workshop".
This "workshop" will be a group meeting of all pre- selected participants (max 14 persons) held in Plettenberg Bay / South Africa from Saturday 31 May 2008 to Sunday 08 June 2008.
This meeting will give you the opportunity to meet the others, see who of the other girls you would feel most comfortable to team up with and to experience life in the wild on a 4 day camping trip.
The last day of the meeting will be spent on discussing open questions, build the teams and commit to this life-changing expedition.
