CAR PAPERS

- Driving licence. International is recommended but not required
- Original vehicle registration papers (notarized copies accepted)
- Letter of authorization from the registered owner
- Temporary Import Permit (DA341 form) issued at the border for around R170 (price varies from border to border)
- Third party vehicle insurance, issued at the border for around R150. This insurance is compulsory and police may want to see the policy at roadblocks
- 2 reflective triangles

No Carnet de Passage needed.
We should carry photocopies of all documents for police inspection, to avoid holding of originals until payment is done.
